Constellations

Forlorn they are, with rosy cheeks
a Hunger gone unfed for weeks
gnawing deep, clasp tightly now
between the pangs, they’re screaming out
the closest thing to empty streets
the cruelest thing they’ve ever seen
so wander left, and stray too far
no one can hurt you where you are
crawling fast, beneath the night
beneath the streets, neath stinging lights
the closest thing to speeding cars
the cruelest part of seeing stars.
